It started in 1984 as a conference about Technology, Entertainment, and Design but now covers a wide range of topics like science, business, and global issues, presented in over 100 languages.
TED is a global community that brings together people from different fields and cultures who want to explore and understand the world better. It believes in the power of ideas to inspire change, influence attitudes, and improve lives.
To expand its mission of sharing ideas, TED created the TEDx program. TEDx allows individuals and communities to organize local TED-like events. These events are independently planned and run under a free license provided by TED.

How Began TEDx Yaoundé Began ?
TEDxYaoundé emerged from a series of impactful events across the city, each contributing to the foundation of what TEDxYaoundé is today:
• 2019: TEDxNgoaEkéléWomen, led by Nadia Habsatou, explored the theme “The Power Inside… Make a Difference”, focusing on the untapped potential of women.
• 2021: TEDxNgoaEkélé, organized by Landry Kemtsop Fomena, encouraged boldness with the theme “N’hésitez pas à oser” (Don’t Hesitate to Dare).
• 2024: TEDxFébé, also led by Nadia Habsatou, delved into “Thriving in the Digital Age”, addressing resilience and adaptability in a rapidly evolving digital world.
These milestones culminated in the creation of TEDxYaoundé, a city-wide platform for sharing innovative ideas and fostering meaningful connections. Today, TEDxYaoundé stands as a hub of inspiration, impacting individuals, organizations, and communities alike.
